The New Cookers

Taking its name from legendary jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard’s touchstone 1965 Blue Note album The Night of the Cookers, this Brooklyn-based ensemble excels in hard-bop jazz with a subtle hip-hop influence. They meld old-school bebop with contemporary rhythms, forging a bold, distinctive sound that pays tribute to their borough’s rich musical heritage. The group returns to BAMcafé as part of the 17th annual Celebrate Brooklyn Jazz Festival.
