Echoing early hip-hop’s evolution, violence at Brazil’s famed baile funk parties was transformed into a constantly shifting battle of dance moves. These passinho duels, powered by funk carioca beats, have leapt from favela face-offs to national obsession. Now the movement’s intense rhythm-driven athleticism and sheer competitive joy come to the U.S. for the first time.
