Melanie Charles

This Brooklyn-Born, Haitian-American musician is a master of many genres ranging from soul to jazz to Haitian roots music, Melanie Jean-Baptiste Charles always delivers. Melanie is a graduate of the world famous La Guardia High School For The Performing Arts as a flute major and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music with a degree in vocal Jazz performance. Melanie has already seen the world and performed as a leader and as a “featured singer” at top venues such as Blue Note NY, Milan and Japan, Duc Des Lombards in Paris, LPR in NY and many more.

Melanie has worked on 2 albums with world renowned producer/ guitarist Nicola Conte and has been featured on his latest two albums “Love and Revolution” and “Free Souls” along side such heavy weights as Gregory Porter and Jose James. Haitian Author Ralph Boncy & the Haitian Jazz Foundation featured Charles in the latest book “Grand Dames De La Musique Haitienne” which also included Toto Bisainthe and Martha Jean Claude. Melanie has shared the stage with top Haitian Artists such as James Germain, Belo, Buyu Ambroise, Emeline Michel, and many more. Melanie is also currently the front singer for up and coming Rock/Afrobeat/ Dance band “Peoples Champs” as Brooklyn-Based Electro group “The Outlaw Collective”.
