I’m With Her, Darlingside

“In its own quiet way, I’M WITH HER is a supergroup.” (The New York Times) In their solo careers and with their other bands, Sarah Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O’Donovan have each been key players in the folk-Americana revival; as a sublime trio, they’ve become its heart and soul. I’m With Her is a band rooted in a rare alchemy: three celebrated songwriters coming together to create music that reveals entirely new possibilities in their distinct and deep-seated talents. Since forming in 2014, Watkins, Jarosz, and O’Donovan have imbued their songs with a sharply detailed lyricism, graceful musicianship, and—perhaps most powerfully—mesmerizing harmonies that endlessly reflect their extraordinary chemistry.

The “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop” (NPR Music) of DARLINGSIDE will set the tone for an evening of exceptional musicianship and beautiful harmonies. The Boston-based quartet draws frequent comparisons to late-’60s era groups like Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Byrds, but their penchant for science fiction and speculative futurism counteracts any urge to pigeonhole their aesthetic as “retro.” The four close friends construct every piece of their music collaboratively, pooling musical and lyrical ideas so that each song bears the imprint of four different writing voices. They often perform around a single vocal microphone, inviting audiences into a lush, intimate world where four voices are truly one.
