Binary Sol

Meeting in the classrooms of Berklee College of Music, Madison McFerrin (daughter of Bobby) and Jarred Barnes first came together for a group project in Kara DiaGuardi’s Hit Making class in the fall of 2012. With Jarred’s electronic, hip-hop sound, and Madison’s R&B, funk vocals, the two quickly learned after writing “The Chase” that their synergy was not something to simply be kept within the walls 921 Boylston. A project outside of the classroom soon became the goal, and the beginnings of Binary Sol were born.

They are true independent artists; their catalog was self written, produced and performed entirely on a laptop, basic condenser microphone and minimal studio set-up. Yet on their own they have been featured on Okayplayer and Soulbounce, and have played with artists such as Taylor McFerrin, Sonnymoon, Chargaux, and on Eliot Glazer’s Haunting Rendition show.
