An Afternoon with Shareef Clayton, Jazz Trumpet Virtuoso

Shareef Clayton, a jazz trumpeter, is a native of Miami, Florida. In 2012 Shareef recorded the album “Multiverse” with the “Bobby Sanabria Big Band” which was nominated for a Grammy. Clayton performs regularly with Melody Gardot, Bobby Sanabria, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. He has performed with such music stars as Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Macy Gray, Michael McDonald, Ruben Blades, and many more.

Although he was heavily influenced by artist such as Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, the cultural influence of Miami can still be heard throughout Clayton’s playing and compositions.

Clayton has performed at top tier jazz clubs in NYC such as The Blue Note, Birdland, Iridum, The Jazz Standard, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Clayton will have copies of his new jazz CD for sale and signing after his performance. Find out more at www.shareefclayton.com.

Queens Library programs are a free to the public. In order to make the programs available to the most number of people we are limiting general admission free tickets to 2 per individual. Multiple orders per individual are not allowed and will be cancelled. This policy ensures that no-shows are reduced and tickets are available to the most number of people.
