Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra reedman Ted Nash performs selections from his critically-acclaimed suite from The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s recording of Portrait in Seven Shades (to be released on February 2), which vividly evokes the visual styles of Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Chagall, Dalí, and Pollock. Nash has figured prominently on the New York jazz scene since he was 18, when he became a regular member of the Gerry Mulligan Big Band, the National Jazz Ensemble, and the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra. He currently serves on the faculty of The Juilliard School where he is also music director of the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra.(Source)
