By combining elements of blues, country, rock, soul, funk, and gospel, Bettye LaVette has established herself as one of the country’s most spirited and prominent voices. Recently performing at the Kennedy Center Honors, Ms. LaVette delivered a stunning rendition of “Love Reign O’er Me” in tribute to Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who. She also participated in the We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial where she performed Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” as a duet with Jon Bon Jovi.

With eleven of the funkiest musicians currently on the scene, Budos Band is an instrumental group from Staten Island that play in a style they call “Afro-Soul.” Described by baritone saxophone player Jared Tankel as being drawn from Ethiopian music, this Afro-Soul is combined with the sounds of 1960’s soul, funk, and metal, which informs the Budos beats.

Known for his classic R&B shows on WBGO & 98.7 KISS FM, Felix Hernandez is one of NYC’s most famous radio personalities. This season Hernandez brings his weekly Rhythm Revue show to the big stage for an all out dance party sure to get everyone on their feet.(Source)
