Katharina Treutler presents: “Romantic Contrasts”

The German Consulate General Presents:

“It is fascinating to experience how a single person can capture such a broad spectrum of characters and tone colours with one and the same instrument.”
– Badische Zeitung

Katharina Treutler, Germany-based pianist, has given numerous recitals around the world, performing in Europe, Asia and the USA. As a soloist she has worked with leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. She is established in the international music scene where she has performed at a number of international music festivals and won several international prizes.

In February 2015, the album Final Symphony was released digitally worldwide with Katharina performing works from video game composer Nobuo Uematsu both solo and with the London Symphony Orchestra. It reached the top of the iTunes-Classical Music charts in more than ten countries as well as the Classical Album top 5 of the Billboard charts and the Official Charts UK.

Katharina Treutler knows like no other musician how to mirror the two emotional contrasts of the romantic era: joy and sadness. This concert takes audiences through a musical rollercoaster of emotions: Liszt’s tales of love, grief and a deep sadness, and the jubilant, life affirming and virtuosic pieces of Grieg. Her performance of “Romantic Contrasts” creates a dreamy atmosphere and will guide you through an intense journey from feelings of enduring love to great agony and back to the joy of life.

On her concert tour through the US, Katharina will visit New York and offer a passionate and colorful take on the music of the Romantic period in her piano solo „Romantic Contrasts”. Works from great composers including Bach/Siloti, Liszt, and Grieg are on her program.
