Haiti-born DJ, Hard Hittin Harry (Harry D’Janite) is a Brooklyn, NY resident by way of Montreal, Canada and New Jersey. DJ Hard Hittin Harry entertains his audience blending unique styles of the latest and classic Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Pop, Rock, Soca, Afrobeat, Haitian Kompas, Zouk, Kwaito, House, Techno, and much more. He is a master at his craft and all those that experience his vibe at a party or special event can testify to this fact. Harry attended the Crown Business Institute/Announcer Training Studios where he obtained his FCC license and graduated to his first position in radio at WSOU-89.5 FM, a Seton Hall University radio station, in 1987. Following Seton Hall, Harry worked at Jersey radio station WJDM, and developed and hosted “Midnite Expressions” at WNJR. His DJ career kicked off throughout the local club circuit of New Jersey. The landmark of Harry’s career was as tour DJ with The Fugees. He ran his very own boutique PR firm Meridian Entertainment for 10 years, and has held residencies at numerous venues and spun for corporate events all over the NYC area. This past February, Harry appeared on the cover of Metro New York, and he currently hosts and produces a weekly show, “HAITIAN ALL-STARZ,” on WBAI 99.5 FM. Harry also hosts and produces two live mix shows, “The Global Jam Session Mid-Day Mix” on Africa’s iGroove Radio every Thursday and “Global Island Vybez” on DWILDMUSICRADIO.com. You can catch Harry spinning at his weekly residencies at Red Rooster in Harlem, Vodou Barm Bed-Vyne Wine Brew, and the world famous Apollo Theater.
Afripedia is a five-part short documentary series produced by the Swedish collective Stocktown. Shot in Kenya, Ghana, Angola, Senegal, and South Africa, each of the five episodes focus on a different group of artists and creators in their respective country. This program brings together three of the documentaries from the Afripedia series, examining the vibrant and rising artistic communities in Ghana, Kenya and Senegal.
