Avenida B

Bring your dancing shoes to L@TA this week. We’ve got old-school salsa from the Lower East Side guaranteed to get you dancing, with a puppet show from the ladies at Puppetsburg to open. Casey John Opstad and Vadim Gershman team up for a group show, “The Invisible Hand,” in the gallery.

Live at the Archway is DUMBO’s signature series: featuring dynamic musical performances + spectacle opening acts for kids & kidults + a pop-up art gallery + interactive art experiences, in a magical, only-in-DUMBO setting. Always free, all ages, + rain or shine.

Avenida B is a classic salsa dura band committed to playing salsa music with the dance community in mind. With its roots in the Lower East Side, this new group has an old soul, committed to unearthing and reviving the old school salsa sound and timeless swing that truly makes audiences want to get up and dance. Through its unique repertoire and attention to details such as song speed, duration and structure, the band hopes to reconnect dancers and musicians in a meaningful way that reflects both the dancer’s experience and the band’s love for the genre of music that they call salsa dura. Avenida B is led by bandleader David Frankel and was formed in 2011.
