Ani Cordero: Recordar

On her first solo album, Recordar: Latin American Songs of Love and Protest, singer/songwriter Ani Cordero revisits songs by musical folk heroes from the 1930s through the 1970s including Víctor Hara, Alí Primera, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Chavela Vargas, Violeta Parra, and more. From the Nueva Canción movement to Iberian folk-inspired sounds, the album unites genres and an impressive cast of guest musicians including Charles Giordano of The E Street Band, Kelly Pratt, Arcade Fire, Beirut, and more. A Brooklyn resident and staple of the global music scene, Cordero has appeared with the legendary Os Mutantes, Pistolera, and as the front-woman to her art rock band Cordero.
