Born in Philadelphia, Bilal is a schooled musician and dynamic live performer whose artistry draws from Jazz, Soul, and Hip-Hop. Bilal has long been intrigued by the possibilities of fusing together art and music. His 2001 debut album, First Born Second, sold over 300,000 copies and announced that Bilal was an artist to watch. His 2013 release, A Love Surreal, reached #1 on the ITunes R&B charts and received rave reviews from USA Today, People, SPIN and Paste Magazine. The New York Times called A Love Surreal: “a cycle of slow-burning songs about love — from infatuation and romance through estrangement, loneliness and renewal, from seduction and longing to philosophical serenity. With lush, glimmering keyboards and electronics, lean indie-rock guitars or Robert Glasper’s limpid jazz piano the songs tease and insinuate.”
Vivian Green received her first professional songwriting credit when Boyz II Men recorded her song, “Dear God” on their platinum-selling album Evolution. Her first album, A Love Story established Green as one of R&B’s most celebrated new artists, spawning the urban dance hits “Emotional Rollercoaster” and “Fanatic.” She broke new musical ground on her sophomore effort Vivian, which produced the singles “Gotta Go, Gotta Leave” and “I Like It But I Don’t Need It.” She has won rave reviews in such outlets as People, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. 2010′s Beautiful, recorded after an almost five-year hiatus, boasted some of Vivian’s most personally charged, emotionally nuanced work to date.
